On 9th September 2025, Akane Suzuki (M2) , Nakao Laboratory, Department of Systems Innovation, received the 2025 Young Researcher Encouragement Award at the Communications Society Special Lecture and Awards Ceremony.

Young Researcher Encouragement Award
Young Researcher Encouragement Award is given to the presenter of an encouraging lecture given by a young researcher at a Type 1 Research Meeting organized by the Network Systems Research Special Committee, which is recognized as particularly excellent and promising for future activities.
About awarded research
The title of the research is “Cross Layer TCP Congestion Control for Integrating L5G and Low Earth Orbit Satellite Communications”.
This research proposes methods to efficiently connect low earth orbit satellite communications, such as Starlink, with terrestrial communications. Focusing on the issue that the periodic fluctuations of low earth orbit satellite communications degrade the communication performance of conventional control methods, a new control method is proposed.
Your impression & future plan
I am honored to receive such an award for my research. This year, I also had the opportunity to present these findings internationally. I aim to make satellite communications more accessible and contribute to realizing a safer society.
