Science and technology form the foundation of our society, and their evolution has given humanity the ability to bring about large-scale changes on a global scale. While advancements in information and communication technologies have made the world feel smaller, they have also led to serious challenges, such as the emergence of high-energy consumption societies and climate change. As it becomes clear that scientific and technological progress not only enriches lives but also has political and economic implications, the need for their wise application and harmony with society has never been greater.
At the Faculty of Engineering and the Graduate School of Engineering, we focus on education and research that integrate science and technology into society. Our work spans from fundamental research to pioneering new frontiers in engineering. Additionally, through international collaborative research and symposia addressing global challenges such as environmental and energy issues, we assess the societal impact of technology and propose forward-looking solutions.
We are committed to understanding the multifaceted nature of science and technology and exploring the value they bring to society. By fostering highly skilled individuals with a broad perspective and global awareness, we aim to contribute to a world where all people can lead fulfilling and meaningful lives through the power of engineering.
