Organization
The Graduate School of Engineering serves as both an organization for faculty and staff and an institution responsible for graduate education (Master’s and Doctoral programs). Faculty members belong to specific departments, where they conduct research while also being responsible for graduate education within their respective fields. Currently, the school consists of 18 departments, affiliated facilities, and an administrative office.
The Faculty of Engineering is an educational organization responsible for undergraduate education. It currently consists of 16 departments. The primary faculty members responsible for undergraduate education are affiliated with the Graduate School of Engineering, the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, and the Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies / Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies.
Administration
At the Graduate School of Engineering, in addition to the Faculty Council, several key administrative bodies have been established to ensure efficient governance and smooth decision-making. These include the Department Chairs' Meeting, the Administrative Council as an advisory body to the Dean, and the Planning Committee responsible for strategic planning. Furthermore, an External Advisory Board, composed of external experts, provides evaluations and recommendations.
The Administrative Council consists of the Dean, three Vice Deans, four Special Assistants to the Dean, the Administrative Director, and several faculty members deemed necessary by the Dean. This council supports the Dean's leadership in executing responsibilities. The Planning Committee plays a crucial role in developing long-term plans for the research organization, supporting responsible decision-making and implementation. Additionally, in 2010, the Academic Strategy Office (formerly the Academic Coordination Office) was established to collect academic information related to education and research and formulate responses from the graduate school.
Major committees at the Graduate School of Engineering include the Executive Committee, which deliberates on graduate education and doctoral thesis reviews, as well as committees for educational issues, class scheduling, student affairs, library operations, finance, and international exchange. To ensure safety and environmental responsibility, the Environmental Safety Management Office oversees disaster prevention and environmental issues. The Information Systems Office manages network operations and IT development, while the Public Relations Office handles communications and website management.
Furthermore, under the International Engineering Education Development Office, established in 2011, initiatives such as the promotion of a bilingual campus and the compilation of engineering curricula are being undertaken to enhance the university's international presence.
For the Faculty of Engineering, the highest decision-making body is the Faculty Council. However, under the leadership of the Dean, the Department Chairs' Meeting has been established to improve efficiency and foster active discussions.

Organization of Technical Staff and the Technical Division
To address the evolving role of technical staff in response to the increasing sophistication of education and research at the university, the Technical Division was established in 1990 under the "Tokyo University Guidelines on the Organization of Technical Staff."
Structure of the Technical Division
The Technical Division consists of eight specialized fields, each further divided into subgroups based on specific duties:
- Materials and Structural Engineering
- Instrumentation and Equipment Development
- Mechanical and Thermal Fluid Experimentation
- Process and Maintenance
- Information Management
- Information Processing
- Analysis and Measurement
- System Engineering
The division is managed by the Technical Director (who is also the Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering), along with Chief Engineers, Section Leaders, Senior Technical Specialists, and Dedicated Technical Experts.
Training and Development
To enhance the expertise and capabilities of the technical staff, an individual training system has been implemented, with around 10 specialized training programs selected each year. Additionally, an annual Technical Presentation Conference provides a platform for staff members to showcase their research and development contributions.
These activities are primarily managed by the staff members themselves, reflecting a strong commitment to professional development and innovation within the Technical Division.
