About awarded research

Lihao Yao, Md Shamim Sarker, Hiroyasu Yamahara and Hitoshi Tabata,

“Electrical Control of Magnon Interference in PZT/YIG System and Its Reconfigurable Logic Device Application,”

29th International Workshop on Oxide Electronics, held on 15-18 October 2023 at Busan, Republic of Korea.

Yttrium iron garnet (YIG) is widely researched in spin wave (SW) generation and modulation for its lowest reported Gilbert damping constant, while PZT (lead zirconate titanate)/YIG bilayer structure was proved to induce the magnetoelectric property in previous study. In this study we focus on the logic application of the PZT/YIG bilayer cross bar structure in a simulation model, and found that when changing the electric field, the device shows the behavior of either an XOR-Gate or an XNOR-Gate according to the stable interference behavior of the SWs. This is an energy efficient version of our previously reported reconfigurable magnon device, where the electric field is used as an external stimulus compared to the current induced Peltier effect.
