PLATEAU AWARD 2025

PLATEAU AWARD 2025 is a development contest focused on PLATEAU, a public 3D urban model dataset developed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. After preliminary screening, ten finalists competed in the final judging, from which one Grand Prix and several category awards were selected.

 About awarded research

This tool is a data downloader designed to streamline the preparation process for GIS analysis using PLATEAU. In conventional workflows, even when using PLATEAU data for a small area, users had to download large volumes of data and collect various open datasets from individual websites. With PLATEAU GIS HUB, users can simply select the required area and attributes on a map to download only the necessary amount of data in a single operation. Related datasets, such as the Population Census and National Land Information, can also be downloaded simultaneously, eliminating the need to visit multiple sites. It runs smoothly even on low-spec PCs, significantly lowering the barrier to adopting PLATEAU and paving the way for wider data utilization.

 Your impression & future plan

I am deeply honored to receive this prestigious award. PLATEAU GIS HUB was developed based on the challenges I encountered while working with PLATEAU in my research. I am thrilled to receive this recognition at the conclusion of my graduate studies, and I hope to continue improving the tool to contribute to the wider adoption and social implementation of PLATEAU.
