On 6th November 2025, Lecturer Minhyeok Lee,  Kenta Ajisaka (B4), Assistant Professor Takaki Akiba and Professor Yuji Suzuki from Department of Mechanical Engineering received Best Photograph Award, "Beautiful Flame" Photo Exhibition, Combustion Society of Japan.

Best Photograph Award, "Beautiful Flame" Photo Exhibition, Combustion Society of Japan
The “Beautiful Flame” Photo Exhibition, held during the Symposium (Japanese) on Combustion, features photographs capturing the beautiful moments of flames encountered in research or daily life. Award-winning works are selected through voting by symposium participants, and the selected photographs are featured in the Journal of the Combustion Society of Japan for one year.

 

About awarded research

“Metal Flame Nebula”
The award-winning photograph captures the flame produced by aluminum-copper mixed nanoparticles ignited by a flash. This moment of metal combustion is reminiscent of the Orion Nebula as seen through the Hubble Space Telescope.

 

Your impression & future plan

By further advancing this research, I aim to contribute to the realization of clean combustion towards decarbonization.
