On Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Office of International Students organized the Chichibu Bus Study Tour for international students at the School of Engineering. The tour welcomed 35 students from 15 different countries and included visits to the Soy sauce factory and Chichibu (Nagatoro).
At the Soy sauce factory (Kinbue company), students learned the traditional manufacturing process passed down since the Edo period. At the Udon workshop, students kneaded the Udon dough themselves, rolled it out, and cut it with knives. After boiling and eating the Udon they made, they were amazed by its delicious taste.
And they enjoyed the autumn foliage at Mount Hōdō Shrine and Nagatoro River. This study tour provided a meaningful opportunity to deeply explore Japanese food culture and nature worship at Chichibu.
