2026/06/29

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the Office of International Students, School of Engineering, organized a study tour to Gyoda, Saitama. A total of 27 international students from 16 countries in the Graduate School of Engineering participated in this tour.

The participants experienced haniwa-making at Haniwa-no-Yakata and visited Sakitama Kofun Park, the Saitama Prefectural Museum of Sakitama Ancient Burial Mounds, Oshi Castle, and the Gyoda City Local History Museum.

In the workshop, students created haniwa under staff guidance. Following approximately two months of drying and firing, the haniwa were delivered to the university in mid-May. The Office of International Students held an exhibition on Friday, May 22, at Building 8 of the Faculty of Engineering, where students were pleased to see their works.

The bus tour provided participants with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Kofun period, local history, and culture, while fostering interaction among students from different countries and academic fields.
