The Encouragement Award is given to young researchers who make an excellent presentation at the "Sensors, Micromachines and Applied Systems" Symposium.

About awarded research

The research that won the Encouragement Award is about the "picoRing mouse," an ultra-low-power, ring-shaped wearable mouse. The key breakthrough is that this device is very small and lightweight (just 5g), yet it achieves outstanding energy efficiency. It uses highly sensitive magnetic communication between the ring and a wristband to greatly lower the ring's power use. This allows the tiny 27mAh battery to last for up to 1,000 hours (more than a month) of continuous use.The picoRing mouse offers an intuitive and natural way to interact in VR (Virtual Reality) and AR (Augmented Reality) environments
