The Ninth Cambridge – UTokyo Joint Symposium 2025

2025/03/03

Since signing the Strategic Partnership Agreement in March 2015, the University of Tokyo and the University of Cambridge have hosted joint symposia on an annual basis, alternating between the two institutions. In 2025, the Ninth Cambridge–UTokyo Joint Symposium will be held at the University of Tokyo.

UTokyo-Cambridge Voices, started in 2020, is a series of conversations held between researchers of the University of Tokyo and the University of Cambridge regarding a specific aspect of their research. This dialogue series is hosted by the two institutions under the framework of the “Strategic Partnership” and explores research from a range of academic disciplines.

This year’s symposium will feature a main session titled “Global Warming and Sustainability” and three parallel sessions on the following themes: 1) Global Dialogues: Making Intersectional Space for Studying Gender and Race in and with Japan, 2) Engineering for the Future, 3) Translating Engineering Biology from the Bench to the Bioeconomy. Additionally, UTokyo-Cambridge Voices research sessions will be held concurrently.
