For two days on 25-26 December 2024, the Institute of Engineering Innovation, School of Engineering, UTokyo hosted the UTokyo Site Visit Training for high school students in Kumamoto Prefecture.

This is the 15th year of the project, and this year, 38 students from 14 high schools in Kumamoto Prefecture took part, led by the Governor of Kumamoto Prefecture, Takashi Kimura himself. The project aims to introduce them to the research carried out at the Faculty of Engineering and its associated experimental facilities, giving them an opportunity to think about their future, dreams, and career paths.

On the 25th, Professor Shinichiro Seki from the Department of Applied Physics, Professor Ryo Ishikawa from the Institute of Engineering Innovation, and Dean Yasuhiro Kato from the School of Engineering gave lectures on world-leading engineering research. This was followed by an exchange meeting with UTokyo faculty members and graduate students. On the 26th, the students visited the Electron Microscope Laboratory at the Institute of Engineering Innovation, the Takeda SCR (Super Clean Room), and Kumamoto Terrace.

At the meeting, there was an enthusiastic exchange of views and opinions between the high school students and the UTokyo members. Many students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to reflect on their career paths and future careers.
