The University of Tokyo site visit training for high school students in Kumamoto Prefecture is held at the Institute of Engineering Innovation, School of Engineering, UTokyo

 

For two days on 21-22 August, the Institute of Engineering Innovation, School of Engineering, UTokyo hosted the UTokyo Site Visit Training for high school students in Kumamoto Prefecture.

This is the 14th year of the project and this year 55 students from 16 high schools in Kumamoto Prefecture took part, led by the Governor of Kumamoto Prefecture, Ikuo Kabashima himself. The project is aimed at introducing them to the research carried out at the Faculty of Engineering and its associated experimental facilities, and to give them an opportunity to think about their future, their dreams, and their career paths.

On the 21st, Professor Takahiro Sagawa, Department of Applied Physics, Professor Junichiro Shiomi, and Associate Professor Shinichiro Seki, Institute of Engineering Innovation, School of Engineering gave lectures on the world-leading engineering research, followed by an exchange meeting with UTokyo faculty members and UTokyo graduate students.

On the 22nd, the students visited the Electron Microscope Laboratory at the Institute of Engineering Innovation and the Takeda SCR (Super Clean Room) and took part in a campus tour.  

At the meeting, there was an enthusiastic exchange of views and opinions between the high school students and the UTokyo members, and many students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to reflect on their future dreams.
