On 4 March 2024, a lecture was held at the Iwate Prefectural Kurosawajiri Kita High School. It was hosted in the Sakura Hall in Kitakami City. Norifusa Mita, who is a graduate of this school, and the creator of “Dragon Sakura”, participated in this lecture.
Professor Kato talked about the path he has taken as a researcher, based on concrete cases while showing the slides of the cutting-edge research being carried out at the Faculty of Engineering. After the lecture, many questions were asked by the participants, such as “I would like to be a researcher, but do I need to have original creativity?” and “What do you look for in young people?”, and many left comments that they appreciated receiving Professor Kato’s heartfelt answers and understood the atmosphere of the university well. They would like to study in such an environment where UTokyo professors are kind to them.
