About awarded research

Studies of debris bed self-leveling are a key factor in debris relocation and are important for better understanding of nuclear severe accidents. In this study, the self-leveling phenomenon was numerically investigated by combining the DEM-CFD method and the coarse-grained DEM. Through this study, it was shown that the combined DEM-CFD method and the DEM coarse-grained model could simulate debris bed self-leveling, and the initiation criteria of the self-leveling phenomenon were identified The initiation criterion of the self-leveling phenomenon was identified.

Your impression & future plan

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to my supervisor, Prof. Mikio Sakai, for his unconditional support and invaluable help. Additionally, I would like to express my gratitude to the members of the Sakai lab. In the future, further investigation into the mechanisms of the self-leveling phenomenon will be performed.
