Professor Kazunori Kataoka is awarded the 2015 Gutenberg Prize

 

Kataoka Kazunori Professor of Graduate School of Engineering Materials Engineering / Department of Bioengineering and Medicine Graduate School of disease Biotechnology Center was awarded the 2015 Gutenberg Prize. Research achievements that became the winning target of Professor Kataoka is "The development of polymeric micelles for gene and drug transport into the target site in the body."

<Gutenberg Research Award>
Gutenberg Research Institute at University of Mainz, Germany grants Gutenberg Research Award annually for researchers who made outstanding scientific achievements internationally. This year, the polymer chemist Kazunori Kataoka and the theologian Kwok Pui Lan (Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge/Massachusetts) received the Gutenberg Research Award, and President Georg Krausch gave them the Award Certificate at the Award Ceremony held in the evening of May 4th, 2015 at the University of Mainz.

 

<impression & future plan>
This is a great honor to receive this very prestigious award for me, and I would like to pursue further research on biomaterials useful to treat intractable diseases, including cancer and CNS disorders.
