RSC Poster Prize 'Sustainable Energy & Fuels'

Out of 279 poster presentations at the 9th Tokyo Conference on Advanced Catalytic Science and Technology (TOCAT9), poster awards were given to 16 outstanding presentations. The award, named after the journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry (Sustainable Energy & Fuels), is given to the most outstanding presentations.

About awarded research

"Suppressing metal sintering by ultrathin SiO2 shell decoration on Pd nanoparticles induced by photocatalytic reaction"
The exhaust gas purification system in automobiles consists of a large quantity of novel metals due to the aggregation of the supported metal catalyst in harsh condition.
In this work, we successfully demonstrated selective ultrathin SiO2 decoration on Pd catalyst supported on TiO2 under ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation, resulting in high temperature thermal catalytic applications.
This catalyst maintained its catalytic performance for simulated exhaust gas purification even after treatment at 900°C.

Your impression & future plan

I am deeply surprised to have received this well-deserved award. With this honor and pleasure, I intend to put even more effort into my future research activities. I would like to appriciate Professor Kazuhiro Takanabe and Assistant Professor Fuminao Kishimoto for their daily support.
