Professor Takuzo Aida was elected as an International Member of the United States National Academy of Engineering (NAE)

The United States National Academy of Engineering (NAE) is a non-profit research institution founded by the United States government in 1964 and, along with other national academies, serves as an advisor to the federal government. NAE also carries out programs for engineering education and research promotion, and honors outstanding engineers and technologists through the selection of the Gordon, Russ, and Charles Stark Draper Prizes, which are called the American version of the Nobel Prizes in engineering. Being elected as a NAE member is considered to be the highest honor in engineering and the result of a recognition of lifelong achievements.  Members are selected based on the recommendations of existing members and their achievements in the technical and engineering fields. This time, 106 new US members and 23 new international members were elected, for a total of 2355 and 298, respectively. Professor Aida was elected as one of the new international members.
