About awarded research
Title: Model-based process design for flow synthesis of drug substances using Stevens oxidation
Recently, model-based approaches have gained significant attention in the pharmaceutical industry. However, it is necessary to clarify how experiments and models are utilized in pharmaceutical process development. Model development of complex system, such as Stevens oxidation, is challenging, and validation of design space, which indicates a feasible operating region, has not been sufficiently conducted. In this work, we developed a model of Stevens oxidation. The developed model was used to determine a design space considering uncertainties, and its validity was experimentally verified. The results of this research contribute to advancing efficient pharmaceutical manufacturing process development through design space determination using a mathematical model.
