AICE Award

This award is given to a student participating in AICE (the Research Association of Automotive Internal Combustion Engines) projects who has achieved outstanding results.

About awarded research

"Elucidation of the Flame Structure and Ignition Characteristics of Wall-Stabilized Cool Flames Using the Direct Sampling Method"
In this research, major intermediate species were measured using a combination of the direct sampling method and time-of-flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS) in premixed DME wall-stabilized cool flames. The results provided insights into both the steady cool flame structures near the wall and the unsteady ignition characteristics, revealing species-dependent negative temperature coefficient (NTC) behavior during the cool flame ignition process. The related results were published in the journal Combustion and Flame (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.combustflame.2024.113814).
