On 8 October 2024, approximately 350 1st-, and 2nd-year high school students attended the lecture.
We received feedback including "I learned that School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo is doing the kind of research I thought I could only see on TV, and everything that was talked about today was so fascinating", "A prestigious university like the University of Tokyo was like a dream for me, but by attending this lecture, I felt like I wanted to explore it as a possible destination for my future studies," and "I was very inspired by the talk about research, the environment at UTokyo and learning about the real life of UTokyo students". Their interest in the University of Tokyo had increased significantly and their career choices had been broadened. Some were attracted by Dean Kato’s philosophy of life and left comments such as "Listening to Dean Kato's lecture, I learned the importance of always moving forward and working hard. The life of such a great person was very attractive", "I really admire adults like Dean Kato, who answered all of our questions".
Teachers thanked us, saying our students’ world view had expanded and that it was an excellent opportunity for them to grow.
