Professor Kyoko Nozaki has been elected as International Member of National Academy of Sciences (USA)

 

On 30th April 2024 (US time), National Academy of Sciences announced the election of 120 members and 24 international members in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Those elected this year bring the total number of active members to 2,617 and the total number of international members to 537. International members are nonvoting members of the Academy, with citizenship outside the United States. Professor Kyoko Nozaki is the 28th Japanese member in all areas of natural sciences.

National Academy of Sciences (NAS)

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) is a private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars. Established by an Act of Congress, signed by President Abraham Lincoln in 1863, the NAS is charged with providing independent, objective advice to the nation on matters related to science and technology. Scientists are elected by their peers to membership in the NAS for outstanding contributions to research. The NAS is committed to furthering science in America, and its members are active contributors to the international scientific community. Approximately 500 current and deceased members of the NAS have won Nobel Prizes, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, founded in 1914, is today one of the premier international journals publishing the results of original research.

 

Research interest of Prof. Nozaki

Prof. Nozaki is interested in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis for organic synthesis and polymer synthesis. Utilization of less utilized carbon resources is one of her current focus in research.
