About awarded research

ECM-inspired hydrogel of hyaluronan-gelatin crosslinked via a novel Link module with transglutaminase reactive sequence”

With the aging of the population worldwide, the treatment of diseases and the regeneration of lost tissue have become major challenges. Biomaterials have been developed as one of the solutions in the field of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. Here the key in therapy is how biomaterials can help cell function. In this study, we focused on a natural scaffold for cells to perform their functions, known as the extracellular matrix (ECM), and developed biomaterials inspired by the cross-linked structure of proteins and polymers in the ECM.

Your impression & future plan

I am honored to receive this award at an international conference. I would like to thank Professor Taichi Ito, Associate Professor Seiichi Ohta, Professor Kouhei Tsumoto, Project Associate Professor Satoru Nagatoishi, and Aki Tanabe researcher for their advice and support in advancing my research. Encouraged by this award, even more I would like to work on the research activity.
