Associate Professor Fujio Toriumi received Outstanding Contribution to Science and Technology 2018 at The National Institute of Science and Technology Policy

 

On 28th November 2018, Associate Professor Fujio Toriumi, Department of System Innovation, Received Outstanding Contribution to Science and Technology 2018 (The Researchers with Nice Step) at The National Institute of Science and Technology Policy.

Since 2005, NISTEP has selected researchers who had made outstanding contributions to S&T as “NISTEP Selection (The Researchers with Nice Step)”.(153 selected researchers in total) Professor Shinya Yamanaka (Kyoto University, selected in 2006) and Professor Hiroshi Amano (Selection of Meijo University (then) was selected in 2009 ) as a nice step researcher and was awarded the Nobel Prize. Researchers who are active in various fields of science and technology innovation and give vigor to Japan are selected.

<About awarded research>
He researched computational social science, especially, the reduction of the risk of false rumor diffusion and reduction of minority online risk.
He also organized the Special Interest Group of Computational Social Science Japan to open up the field of computational social science.
