On 1 December 2017, Mr. Kohei Saiki (M1), Lecturer Yusuke Kishita, and Professor Yasushi Umeda, Department of Precision Engineering, won Best Paper Award at EcoDesign 2017: 10th International Symposium on Environmentally Conscious Design and Inverse Manufacturing, which was held in Tainan, Taiwan.
<About awarded research>
Kohei Saiki, Yusuke Kishita, Yasushi Umeda, “Describing Diffusion Scenarios for Low-Carbon Products Using Life Cycle Simulation,” Proceedings of EcoDesign 2017: 10th International Symposium on Environmentally Conscious Design and Inverse Manufacturing, D4-1, Tainan, Taiwan, Nov 29-Dec 1, (2017).
This paper aims to describe scenarios to analyze the diffusion of low-carbon products (e.g., photovoltaic panels) and the resulting environmental impact over time. The characteristic of the paper lies in, by means of life cycle simulation, the development of the integrated model to evaluate the relationship between social changes in the future, product diffusion, and the resulting CO2 emissions throughout product life cycles. We expect that the developed model would be helpful for planning energy and environmental policies.
