Kaoru Senda (M1), Department of Electrical Engineering, received Best Paper Award of The 82nd National Convention of IPSJ

On May 28th, 2020, Kaoru Senda (M1) received Best Paper Award of The 82nd National Convention of IPSJ.

<About awarded research>

Awarded paper; "Individual segmentation of 3D point cloud using heuristic model for growth measurement of fruit tree." 3D point cloud sensed by drones is utilized to evaluate growth of plants in an orchard, but individual segmentation is challenging.
I proposed a new method using heuristic nearest neighbor model based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA). PCA of point cloud can detect the shape of tree structure, and the proposed method realized high precision segmentation.

<Your impressions & future plan>
I felt great honor to receive this award. I will continue my research work.
