★ Please contact the Japanese Embassy in your home country for details of application to the MEXT SCHOLARSHIP (Embassy Recommendation).
★ Applicants should follow the following two steps for application to the Graduate School of Engineering through MEXT Scholarship Embassy Recommendation.
- Step 1: Applicants are required to undergo the preliminary selection process at the Japanese Embassy in their respective home countries.
- Step 2: Upon successfully passing the preliminary selection by the Japanese Embassy, applicants will undergo further evaluation by the Graduate School of Engineering UTokyo for admission.

- The students with MEXT Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation) generally enroll as Postgraduate International Research Students (Non-degree) and they must later take an entrance examination to be admitted into a Master’s or Doctoral degree program. See the flowchart below.
- However, applicants for the Department of Civil Engineering with MEXT Scholarship (Embassy Recommendation) should directly apply for Master’s or Doctoral degree programs through International Admission Programs.
