Past, Present and Future of Particle Technology Conference (PPFPT)

This award was presented at the international conference "Past, Present and Future of Particle Technology (PPFPT)" held at the University of Leeds, UK. It is awarded to the outstanding oral presentations delivered by early-career researchers (within two years of obtaining their PhD), who were selected through a peer-review of their abstracts.

Title: A Large-Scale DEM–CFD Simulation for Industrial Powder Die Filling with Particle Shape Effects
Presentation overview:
With the global trend toward Digital Transformation (DX) in manufacturing, simulation technologies for developing digital twins of powder processes have become increasingly essential. However, accurately reproducing the complex powder behavior in industrial applications remains an extremely challenging task. This research developed a novel coupled model by integrating multiple advanced simulation techniques, enabling large-scale powder system simulations considering particle shape effects. The validity of this model was demonstrated through its application to an industrial powder die-filling system. These results are expected to contribute significantly to the practical implementation of digital twins in the manufacturing sector.
