This award is given to young researchers who delivered excellence oral and poster presentations at the 21st Japan Society of Maintenology (JSM) conference.

About awarded research

Poster Title: Analysis of debris bed formation process based on CGDEM - CFD model

Summary: In a core disruptive accident, part of the molten core is ejected into the coolant in the form of jets, leading to the formation of a debris bed. The shape of this debris bed significantly affects the temperature distribution within the system. To analyze the debris bed formation process in detail, the system was simulated using the Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). To ensure both the efficiency and flexibility of the numerical model, a DEM coarse-grained model and a refined grid model were applied.
