Global Edtech Startups Awards Competition 2021 R&D Open Innovation Track
The Global Edtech Startups Awards (GESAwards) is the world's largest EdTech competition, launched in 2014, involving 103 countries and more than 5,000 companies and organizations. The R&D Open Innovaion track is open to initiatives that are solving or have the potential to solve problems that contribute to innovation in teaching and learning. About awarded research
We are working towards the realization of large-scale active learning online. In the process, we developed "LearnWiz One," a web system that encourages students to post their opinions and find good ones. Specifically, by using this system through a web browser, students can submit their own opinions in response to questions from the instructor. They can also "like" the opinions of others. Using "like" information, the system naturally find out "good opinions". With the conventional systems, when there were many opinions, it was difficult to check others' opinions and to find good opinions, but this system overcomes these problems.

Your impression & future plan
[Dr. Lui Yoshida]
We are very honored that our efforts have been recognized worldwide. In addition to the usefulness of the system, judges highly evaluated our efforts to involve many organizations and people in our open innovation approach, such as the fact that our efforts have been adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as part of its "Scheem-D" initiative for the digitization of university education, and that many faculty members and students participate in our weekly workshops. We believe that the results were achieved with the support of many people, and we would like to thank all of you for your cooperation.

[Mr. Rintaro Chujo]
I am very honored to be the GESAwards R&D track winner. I am very happy that EdTech, which supports online teaching, has been evaluated. I would like to express my gratitude to Prof. Yoshida and all the people who have supported our activities. As one of the students who faced the difficulties of online teaching, I am very happy that EdTech, which supports online teaching, has been selected for this award.
We will continue our activities to realize better education and also to contribute to society by implementing our educational knowledge. The system we developed "LearnWiz One" can be easily used in classes and events, and we hope you will make use of it.
