The world's first drone flight route "UAS Lines" under the 10-year "Comprehensive National Digital Lifeline Development Plan", which is being promoted by the government under the leadership of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, was opened in Hamamatsu City and the Chichibu area. The UAS Lines is a joint project by eight organizations: Grid Skyway LLP, Trajectory Corporation, The University of Tokyo, Fujiyama Corporation, NEC Corporation, KDDI Smart Drone Corporation, Intent Exchange Corporation, and Space Service Innovation Lab Cooperative Association. The UAS Lines system is the result of the "Digital Infrastructure Development Project for Industrial DX" of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

In Hamamatsu City, the UAS Lines has been established approximately 180 km above the Tenryu River, a first-class river, and in the Chichibu area, approximately 150 km above power transmission facilities, using the UAS Lines system. In addition, commercial use of some sections of the route will be started for logistics purposes and inspection of power transmission facilities using drones.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Comprehensive National Digital Lifeline Development Plan" calls for the development of UAS Lines routes over 10,000 km above first-class rivers and 40,000 km above power transmission lines, respectively. In addition, the plan is to establish a network of digital lifeline drone routes throughout the country by interconnecting Drone Lines.
