1994 | April | Department of Mineral Development Engineering renamed Department of Geosystem Engineering. The four departments of Industrial Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, Reaction Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering were reorganized into three new departments: Applied Chemistry, Chemical System Engineering, and Chemistry and Biotechnology. With continued emphasis being placed on Graduate Schools, the Graduate School of Engineering was further reinforced. (Consequently, six departments were added in this third year of reform: Earth Systems Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Chemistry, Chemical System Engineering, and Chemistry and Biotechnology.
