On Friday, March 8, 2024, the "150th Anniversary of the Imperial College of Engineering" was held at HASEKO-KUMA Hall. This event was held to commemorate the historical milestone of the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Imperial College of Engineering, which is one of the major predecessors of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Tokyo. The event began with opening remarks by Professor Yasuhiro Kato, Dean of the School of Engineering, followed by a presentation by faculty members from the University of Glasgow, where Henry Dyer, the first Token (de facto principal) of the School of Engineering studied. We welcomed and received a message from Professor Manuel Salmeron-Sanchez, the Head of the School of Engineering of the University of Glasgow, and a lecture from Professor Konstantinos Kontis. We also invited Ms. Margaret Tongue, Minister Counsellor, British Embassy Tokyo, to deliver a speech.

Based on the theme of the symposium, "Imagine the future through our history”, we also took this opportunity to present the 2023 Dean’s Award winners. Each of the award-winning students prepared slides of their academic and research achievements, which were presented during the latter half of the symposium. Master's and doctoral students who received the Best Dean's Award of the School of Engineering also gave lectures, presenting their research results as well as their aspirations for the future and messages to their juniors.

The symposium ended with a closing address by Professor Kohei Tsumoto, Vice Dean of the School of Engineering.
