On 7th August 2018, Hikari Fujita (M2), Department of Nuclear Engineering and Management, won “Excellent Poster Presentation Award” at 4th Summer Seminar for Light-Water Reactor Fuel, Material and Water Chemistry.
It was given for the superior poster presentation at 4th Summer Seminar for Light-Water Reactor Fuel, Material and Water Chemistry.

“γ-ray irradiation effect on hydrogen isotope permeation through tritium permeation barrier coatings”

Tritium permeation leakage is a serious problem in fusion reactors, and so ceramic coatings with low tritium permeability have been investigated. However, hydrogen isotope permeation behavior may change in fusion reactors compared to that in unirradiation environments since structural materials are exposed to severe radiation environments in fusion reactors. In this study, deuterium permeation behavior in various coatings under γ-ray irradiation has been researched, suggesting that deuterium permeation increased mainly by γ-heating which also occur in nuclear reactors.
