<About awarded research>
A three-roll-mill is widely used in the chemical engineering, such as the conductive paste, cosmetics, ink and so on. After the wet granular fed into the three-roll-mill was compressed between two rolls whose rotational velocities and directions were both different, it stuck on the faster roll and conveyed to the fastest roll. Although the three-roll-mill has been widely used so far, the reason why the wet granular always sticks on the faster roll has not been found out. In order to solve this problem, we applied the DEM simulation technique to the three-roll-mill system. Using the liquid bridge model, the wet granular stuck on the faster roll as with the actual system and finally, we found out the mechanism in the three-roll-mill for the first time.

It's my great pleasure to win this award. I really thank Prof. Mikio Sakai for his excellent supervision, and also all members of my laboratory. I will try to improve our researches.
