About awarded research
Title of presentation: Application of coarse-grained DEM to gas-solid two-phase flow with heat transfer
Abstract of presentation:
DEM-CFD is a widely adopted approach for simulating gas-solid flows. However, the accuracy of heat transfer analysis diminishes when existing DEM-CFD methods are applied. To address this limitation, we developed a novel method capable of maintaining accuracy even when coarse-grained DEM is employed to analyze heat transfer in solid particles. To validate the method, we investigated the cooling behavior of solid particles in a fluidized bed. The results demonstrated that the proposed approach accurately simulates heat transfer in solid particles without any loss of precision, which often occurs in conventional models, even under coarse-grained DEM conditions.
Your impression & future plan
I am deeply honored to receive this award. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Prof. Mikio Sakai for his continuous guidance and support. I would also like to thank everyone at Sakai Lab. for their advice and support. I am encouraged by this award and will continue to devote myself to my research with the goal of further improving my work.
