Lecture report: Joint Seminar for Shizuoka Prefecture Higher Education Guidance Liaison Committee and Shizuoka Network for the Improvement of Academic Ability and Guidance for Higher Education

On 17 August 2024, there were about 60 teachers from public schools in Shizuoka prefecture gathered at the venue.

Dean Kato presented his own research, the extensive learning environment offered by the Faculty of Engineering at UTokyo, and the diverse educational programmes. For the teachers who attended, his talk was a further opportunity to see how a university education can greatly enhance a student’s future prospects.

A teacher who attended the event commented, "I was able to learn about the differences between the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering, and the wide range of fields that engineering covers, such as medical-engineering collaboration. This was an event that I would definitely like to have my students attend".

Many of the teachers were inspired by his talk and it was a valuable opportunity for them to reflect on their teaching in the future.
