Lecture series for Junior and Senior High Schools: Shoei Girls' Junior and Senior High School

On 28 May 2024, a total of more than 600 students from the second year and third year of junior high school, as well as first year high school students, gathered at the venue.

Dean Kato's interesting life experiences and humorous way of speaking made the lecture an enthusiastic event, with the audience laughing from the beginning to the end. One after another, he introduced the activities of female professors at UTokyo, the facilities for women and the daily life of female students in the Faculty of Engineering.

During the Q&A session, many hands were actively raised, and the Dean Kato answered each question in detail. The audience commented after the lecture: "I have never been interested in the science field before, but I found it very fascinating. I was drawn into the conversation and felt like the two hours flew by so fast", "I was impressed by the cool women he introduced in his talk, and I want to find research that I can be passionate about", etc. In today's society, where women are expected to play a more active role, the lecture made the audience realise the importance of continuously challenging themselves.
