<About awarded research>

The main purpose of my research is making the innovation at the interface of the two different academic realms: chemistry and biology. As a building block, I have been using protein GroEL, making nanostructure with the functions endowed from the rational designs. The whole project is started from making functional guest array inside the protein nanotubes. This structure is found to be responsive to the chemical stimulus; intracellular signaling molecule ATP which makes the structure readily disassembled or to the physical stimulus, external magnetic field. I envisage this system could one day be applied to generate nanosized materials having specific functions that have never been realized so far.
