"IEEE - Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Excellence in Technical Communication Student Prize Award - First Prize"

IEEE - Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society Excellence in Technical Communication Student Prize Award was presented in recognition of an outstanding 3 Minute Thesis oral presentation at the International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium IGARSS 2022.

About awarded research

We presented our work on the use of Multi-Sensor Data using Explainable Neural Networks at the 3 Minute Thesis Competition at IGARSS-22. Our work explained how multiple satellite data can be fused together to more information about the Earth's surface. Additionally, we explained that Neural Networks which are traditionally considered to be "black boxes" can be explained by a simple yet effective method which we call the "Inverse-mapping".

Your impression & future plan

To be awarded and recognised at the IGARSS-22 has made me more confident. I am grateful to my supervisors  Hirose-Sensei and Natsuaki-Sensei for their support. My next aim is to continue my research in this field and understand the effects of multi-sensor data fusion for cryosphere application.
