MIT students are now visiting UT

Students of both MIT, one of the best research institutions in the world, and the department of engineering at the University of Tokyo (UTokyo) will participate in this program. During the program, they will stay at a Japanese ryokan together and learn about cultural differences between Japan and America, the frontiers of engineering in Japan, and Japanese university lifestyle through experiencing Japanese culture, visiting Japanese Companies and UTokyo laboratories, and interacting with each other in general. Through this program, the UTokyo students will be able to see how Japan seems to foreigners and develop and exercise their spirit of hospitality. On the other hand, the MIT students will be able to compare modern Japanese technology with that of Western countries and consider studying abroad at UTokyo as a future career option. Moreover, the students can deepen their interaction by bringing their own engineering knowledge and working together in groups. It is desirable that through this program, the participating students will gain an understanding of not only their own positions in the world but also their countries’, and making use of this international way of thinking, eventually return their own engineering knowledge to society.
