<About awarded research>

“Development of fluorescent antibody probes to detect tumor-associated membrane protein claudin” Quenchbody, or Q-body in short, is a powerful fluorescent biosensor, which works on the principle of antigen-dependent removal of a quenching effect by intrinsic tryptophan residue on a fluorescent dye incorporated at the N-terminal region of Fab. The Q-body method has several advantages : Simplicity, rapid and realtime measurement, high sensitivity and versatility.
In this study, I tried to make new Quenchbodies to detect claudin. Claudins are kind of membrane protein and are structural and functional components of tight junction-seals in epithelium, and are abnormally expressed in several human cancers. The objective of this study is to detect abnormally expressed claudin and help diagnosis of cancer.

I will take this Award as a yell to my future and continue to make more efforts to contribute to our society in the future. I am very grateful to Professor Ueda for his great support and precise advice to my research, laboratory members for sharing best research environment and Prof. Kondoh in Osaka Univ. for his great support as a group research.
