<About awarded research>

Our research group has developed “molecular glues” which can adhere to various biomolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids.  In this research, “ATP-responsive” molecular glues, which is designed to control enzyme activity by changing its adhesive feature depending on the local concentration of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), are successfully synthesized.  ATP is one of the essential biomolecules as energy currency, and abundantly exists in tumor and inflammatory tissues.  Such ATP-triggered activation of an enzyme may lead to the development of novel therapeutics for cancer and inflammation.
