Professor Shinichi Nakasuka, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, received APRSAF 1st Asia-Pacific Region Excellence in Space Award.

APRSAF 1st Asia-Pacific Region Excellence in Space Award

This award was initiated in 2021 by APRSAF (Asia-Pacific Region Space Agency Forum), a forum organized by space agencies in Asia-Pacific Region. This is to be awarded to a person who made an outstanding contribution to the space development and utilizations not only in Asia Pacific region but also in the world.

<About awarded research>
Dr. NAKASUKA will be recognized for his outstanding contributions to the development of space applications such as CanSats, CubeSats and micro/nano-satellites, which have had profound impact on space-related activities in the Asia-Pacific region and around the globe. He has also contributed to the development of the next generation of aerospace professionals by being a strong advocate of the importance of higher education. He also serves as the General Chair of the University Space Engineering Consortium – Global (UNISEC – Global).

I am so happy to receive this excellent award especially at the occasion of the 1st year.
International collaboration is essential for space development and utilization. As I receive this award, I will continue my effort in this direction in order for the space development activities to contribute to solving social problems, and also for Japan to keep leadership in university collaboration network not only in Asia Pacific region but also in the world.
