Professor Kazunori Kataoka has been elected as a Foreign Member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE)

 

The US National Academy of Engineering (NAE) announced new Members elected this year on February 8, 2017. Professor Kazunori Kataoka of Policy Alternatives Research Institute (Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, and former Professor of Departments of Materials Engineering and Bioengineering, Graduate School of Engineering) has the honor to be elected as one of the 22 Foreign Members <https://www.nae.edu/?id=165210>. NAE elects engineers who have made remarkable achievements as a Member, and being elected as a Member is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. NAE, together with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), constitutes the Academies of the United States of America, and is engaged in formulating programs on engineering education and research promotion, and advising the Federal Government. The principal engineering accomplishment of Professor Kataoka is "Pioneering contributions to the design of supramolecular nanostructures and their application to drug and gene delivery systems". The formal induction ceremony will be held on October 8, 2017 in Washington, DC.
