On 15th December 2016, Mr. Toshiya Matsui (M1), Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, wins a Excellent Poster presentation award at CSJ Chemistry Festa 2016.
This award is given for distinguished poster presenters at CSJ Poster Presentation 2016.

<About awarded research>

Tubular nanostructures, having various diameters and lengths have been synthesized regardless of their components such as organic, inorganic or organic-inorganic hybrid, and functionalization of them also have been attempted. The technique of synthesizing metal–organic nanotubes from metal ions and organic ligands was reported as a unique means of nanotube synthesis. However, there is no example that imparts photoresponsiveness to the nanotube itself. We have successfully synthesized the crystalline complex with nanotube structure by incorporating a dithienylethene derivative that is known to exhibit reversible and highly efficient electrocyclic reaction. Furthermore, we revealed that the obtained crystalline nanotube showed reversible and high solid-state photoreactivity under UV or visible light irradiation.
