On 8th September 2016, Mr. Yuki Imakura, Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology, wins a RSC Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry Poster Presentation Award for 10th Bio-related Chemistry Symposium.

In vivo molecular imaging enables the elucidation of life phenomena and the diagnosis of diseases at the molecular level. Toward such in vivo molecular analysis, hyperpolarized MR imaging or spectroscopy is one of the most attractive techniques. However, there is a non-negligible limitation: a short hyperpolarization lifetime. In this study, we succeeded in developing the molecular unit with long hyperpolarization lifetime, according to the design principle based on theoretical studies. We expect this molecular unit could be applied to development of various molecular probes for analyzing biological events.
