〈About awarded research〉
Powder mixing is essential in fabrication of various industrial products. Understanding and identification of mixing mechanisms are of vital importance to improve the product quality. In this study, we present a novel approach for the identification of mixing mechanisms based on the proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). By incorporating the POD technique into the mixing simulation, a general relation between the spatially dominant features of powder flow and mixing mechanisms can be well established. This approach provides a feasible and effective way to not only identify the dominant mechanisms but also capture the possible transition between plural mechanisms. Our newly proposed identification approach is believed to be helpful for the further development of powder mixing in a wide range of engineering fields.

It is my great honor to win this award. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to every member in my lab, especially Dr. Guangtao Duan and my supervisor Prof. Mikio Sakai. For future, I will make my best effort to continue my research about the numerical simulation.
