EDGE-NEXT entrepreneur education program Pre-Basic Phase 1st & 2nd sessions: Program briefing, Invited talks about SDGs by professors, and Networking

Overview:
EDGE-NEXT by UTokyo is the entrepreneurship education program which develops global entrepreneurs and enables participants to create business plan based on research seeds. This year we newly set up Pre-Basic Phase and focus on solving SDGs issues. We provide invited talks about SDGs by professors of UTokyo, briefing of EDGE-NEXT program, and networking for finding team members to solve the problems through self introduction. As a program whole, participants will do challenge to make business plan based on their passion for problem solving and their skills and knowledge (research or business experience).
 
We prepare eight sessions for Pre-Basic Phase in May and June and its fee is free.  
Eight sessions will be 1st: overall direction, 2nd: energy 1, 3rd: disaster prevention, 4th: climate change, 5th: medical, 6th: energy 2, 7th: healthcare/aging, 8th: agriculture/food.
 
Invited talks about SDGs for the 1st and 2nd sessions are:
May 7: Speaker: Naoko Ishii, Executive Vice President, UTokyo,  Title: Global Commons Stewardship: System transformation of the world
May 14: Speaker: Ryuji Matsuhashi, Professor, UTokyo,  Title: Realization of a carbon neutral society and novel business schemes of energy systems
 
Main features of the program are as follows.
(1) The program consists of four phases (Pre-Basic, Basic, Advanced, and Practical) which are suitable for the objectives and stages. In Basic phase participants digs down problems and form diversified teams. In Advanced phase participants make business plan based on research outcomes through customer hearing and mentor guidance. Practical phase is for participants who launch a real business as a startup or inside the corporation.  
(2) Participants can brush up communication skills and build valuable human network through discussions with various people from university, national laboratory, corporation, investors, and business mentors.
(3) Participants can have chance to present business plan in front of overseas venture investors at Silicon Valley and San Diego.

Intended for:  University researchers (graduate level or higher) / National laboratory researchers / Research or business development personnel from corporations / Government staffs  
Number of audience: No limit for Pre-basic Phase  (About 40 people from Basic Phase)
Entrance Fee: No charge for Pre-Basic Phase
 
Advance Registration Required: Please register by the form at the following application site.
We prepare the template for self introduction and also networking (team member recruiting) on the application site. Please send the file to EDGE-NEXT office by E-mail by "three days before the session day". After receiving it, we will send the Zoom URL for participation by E-mail. Please note that doing self introduction is a necessary condition to attend this Pre-Basic Phase.
