Professor Makoto Fujita received the Wolf Prize 2018 in Chemistry

In February 12, 2018, the Wolf Foundation announced that nine laureates in the field of agriculture, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and music. Prof. Makoto Fujita, Department of Applied Chemistry, the University of Tokyo, received the Wolf Prize 2018 in Chemistry for his contributions to metal-guided synthesis “conceiving metal-directed assembly principles leading to large highly porous complexes”. Prof. Fujita will share the Wolf Prize for Chemistry with Prof, Omar Yaghi, the University of California, for his metal-organic frameworks, “pioneering reticular chemistry via metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs)”

“I express great surprise for being selected as a 2018 Wolf Prize Laureate. Our study is still just the tip of the iceberg and I would like to make efforts continuously for the further progress of our research,” says Professor Makoto Fujita.
