“Molecular glues” carrying multiple guanidinium ion (Gu+) pendants can tightly adhere to oxyanionic surfaces of biomacromolecules. We have reported that the adhesion of molecular glue results in the stabilization of protein assemblies and thereby controlling their functions.  However, despite this interesting potential, non-selective adhesion of molecular glues in living systems has prevented it from practical applications.  My “caged” molecular glues whose adhesion capability is temporarily disabled by a protective group but can be spontaneously activated by deprotection when the glue detects a cancer-specific biological signal.

It is an honor to receive this award.  I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our lab member especially Prof. Takuzo Aida for all of their support.  This great honor encourages and activates me to seriously work hard.
